Rocking Horse: My Ole Paint, I Miss Him Still!

by Terry Thornton

My memory was jolted by Jasia's post at Creative Gene. Her article about her favorite gifts to receive and to give and her picture of her horse sent me on a search for an older-than-dirt photo of me on my rocking horse. So here is Terry and Ole Paint from about 66 years ago.Ole Paint carried me many places over many a mile of rocking back and forth.

The maddest I ever got at my parents was the day they gave my beloved Ole Paint to a family friend who had a child just the right age for it. [Okay, I was about eight years old and far too big for Ole Paint but he was my buddy.]

I told Ole Paint as he left to buck and snort that new kid right off!

No, I was not the slightest bit interested in Ole Paint being some other kid's pony.

Somewhere I know that Ole Paint still rocks and snorts and bucks gently and inspires some little kid to ride the range and do things the Cowboy Way!

Thank, Jasia, for inspiring me to search out this old photograph.

Aww, Terry. You're so cute!!! And that's a mighty handsome steed you've got there. Ole Paint looks like a good ole horse and I'll bet he's thinking about you and wondering what you're up to these days too!

Jasia, Spoken like a true Cowgirl.

You should do a photo challenge. Not many can top your riding-with-guns-blazing photo.

MERRIE XMAS!

I love the idea of a vintage or antique photo challenge!

Terry, you were so adorable!

I love the idea of a photo challenge. I'd be surprised if I could compete (not blessed with as many photos as y'all) but I sure would love to see what you guys had to show.

Lee, Me and Ole Paint had a wonderful time. OK, We've seen Janice on her rocking horse; we've seen Jasia on hers --- so where is Lee on a horse?
